Our Home Defense Shotgun Class is a comprehensive 4-hour training session tailored to equip you with the essential skills and knowledge required to effectively utilize your shotgun for home defense.
Throughout this course, you will receive a thorough introduction to shotgun operation, including its basic functions, ballistics, and patterning. We’ll cover the safe handling and operation of shotguns in defensive environments, ensuring you understand how to load, unload, and operate your shotgun safely and effectively, even in high-stress situations.
You’ll participate in practical exercises designed to enhance your marksmanship and proficiency in firing your shotgun with accuracy. Additionally, we will focus on tactical considerations, teaching you how to apply defensive tactics and self-defense principles specifically tailored for shotgun use in home defense scenarios.
Our experienced instructor will guide you through intermediate and advanced techniques, including precision shooting, reloading skills, immediate action drills, and the practical use of slings to enhance your shotgun handling capabilities.
By the end of this class, you’ll have a comprehensive understanding of how to maximize the potential of your shotgun as a defensive tool, ensuring you’re well-prepared to protect yourself and your loved ones in any home defense situation. Safety will remain our top priority throughout the training, and our instructors will ensure that you develop not only the necessary skills but also a responsible mindset towards firearm ownership and usage.
Essential materials include:
- a shotgun
- a minimum of 40 slugs
- an unloaded and cased firearm (bring your own or rent one of ours), and
- personal eye and ear protection (bring your own or purchase on-site).
Please note the following logistics for the course: Class capacity is limited to 18 students, with a minimum enrollment requirement of 5 students for the class to proceed.

Reschedule/Cancelation Policy:
- Customers are allowed ONE class reschedule if the request is made at least 2 days before the ORIGINAL class date stated on the order. Any additional rescheduling attempts will not be accommodated and will result in the forfeiture of the class fee.
- Cancellation requests must be submitted at least 2 days prior to the ORIGINAL class date indicated on the order. Failure to reschedule or cancel within this timeframe will render the student ineligible for a refund.
- In the event that The Gun Store and Range cancels a lesson, we will collaborate with you to determine a mutually agreeable future class date. However, the aforementioned policy will still apply to any subsequent cancellation or rescheduling attempts.
